Nonprofit centered around professional development for educators hosts two-day, virtual learning rooted in equity
NEW YORK, New York (February 10, 2022) — The UnboundEd Winter 2022 Virtual Summit is rapidly approaching, taking place on Thursday, February 24, 2022 and Thursday, March 3, 2022. During the two days of professional development, educators will gain a better understanding of their personal biases and will learn to apply GLEAM™ (grade-level, engaging, affirming and meaningful) instructional practices. The Virtual Summit will provide educators with:
- two days of immersive learning sessions in key pathways led by highly-trained facilitators and differentiated by grade-level and subject-area focus.
- a space for courageous conversations with fellow educators about systems and structures rooted in racism, implicit biases, instructional insights and actions.
- the ability to identify opportunities to address unfinished instruction and increase the frequency of student access to grade-level content.
The Virtual Summit will be anchored by a powerful keynote address from Lacey Robinson, president and CEO of UnboundEd. Robinson is an experienced and demonstrated education leader whose life’s work focuses on eradicating the student achievement gap that has been largely predictable by race. The Day Two keynote address will be delivered by UnboundEd’s vice president of mathematics, Rolanda Baldwin, and deputy chief of program design & development, Andrea Hancock.
“Talking about structural change is easy,” says Robinson. “The real work is in creating an actionable plan to deconstruct what racially-biased institutions have built over the decades. That’s a responsibility that educators have, not only to their students, but to themselves. Our Virtual Summit will provide participants with tools they can begin using immediately upon reentering their classrooms.”
Sessions are carefully designed so that teachers and instructional coaches leave the Virtual Summit better prepared to make informed decisions that address unfinished instruction while retaining a focus on grade-level learning. State, district and school leaders will leave the Summit better prepared to make decisions that ensure all students have equitable access to grade-level instruction.
To guarantee an engaging experience, UnboundEd maintains a 1:17 facilitator to participant ratio, with a maximum of 35 participants per session. Due to the more intimate sessions and increased demand for virtual professional development, registration is open, but spaces are limited and filling up quickly. It is highly advisable that district leaders sign groups up immediately as this event will sell out.
