Sharmia Jones is a thoughtful educator with over 25 years of dedication to shaping minds and fostering literacy for students and teachers. As a former middle school ELAR teacher, technology specialist, campus administrator and district specialist for teacher development, Sharmia has connected students and teachers with a world beyond their reach through the power of stories and books. She has delivered over 700 hours of professional learning in the areas of literacy, technology, data analysis, and teacher development. Not just limited to education, Sharmia has been responsible for generating revenue and supporting business development as a regional director and project manager in the corporate sector.
When she is not promoting literacy and best practices, you can find Sharmia exemplifying her commitment to positive impact by volunteering for social justice organizations, political campaigns, or in the community. She is a member of several organizations including TCEA, HAABSE, NAACP, and The Friends of the Sugarland95. Sharmia holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from The University of Houston.
